In this episode, Emma Tarence shares how life coaching has helped bring about dramatic personal change and growth in her life.
Emma describes herself before she made a radical change. She shares how she lacked motivation, failed to set goals, and settled for mediocrity. She gives an honest picture of what she felt inside and how she lived her life~and it wasn't working for her.
Emma Tarence is a new girl compared to the one we all knew just a year ago. Her friends, parents, siblings, and extended family can attest to the fact that there is a "new Emma" that is drastically different than the one one. Trust me, if I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it. But my daughter has amazed and inspired ALL of us who know her.
Emma began working with a life coach about a year ago, and this is the genesis of what turned out to be an amazing transformation. Alexis Girvan worked with Emma on a regular basis to help her implement practices and habits that have shaped Emma into the "new girl" she is today.
The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy made a huge impact upon Emma and helped motivate her to begin changing habits that would affect her down the road. Two other books, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and The 6 Most Important Decisions You'll Ever Make, both by Sean Covey, had a huge impact on Emma.
This powerful quote we've heard myriad times from our pastor, Chris Hodges, is very true in Emma's life. In the podcast, Emma shares how her friends helped encourage, inspire, and influence her for the better. She shares how they "spur one another on" to be better and do better.
Whereas the "old Emma" would stay up late and sleep late, the new Emma is drastically different. She attributes a schedule, routine, and order to making her more productive, energetic, and satisfied. Her journaling, morning routine, and habit tracking have made a huge difference in her life.
Emma begins her mornings with the most important things. She dedicates 5 minutes to each of the following: prayer, worship, and bible reading. She says this has made a huge difference in her heart, attitude, and gratitude.
We all have room to grow, change, and improve ourselves. Emma's turnaround story is inspiring in that it shows how anyone can make the decision to turn around, and it can happen quickly. If we put our minds to it, we can become a better version of ourselves any time we choose. Emma has inspired me, and I am so thankful to be her mom.
